Matt Griffin confident ahead of Le Mans

1 Mins read

Ferrari driver Matt Griffin hopes for a repeat of the 2013 Le Mans where he finished on the 3rd step of the podium in GT Pro am class after driving the number 61 Ferrari 458 GTE for AF Corse.

This year, the Northamptonshire based Irishman will pilot the number 52 Ferrari 458 GTE for Ram Racing  alongside team mates Alvero Parente and Federico Leo in the GT Pro Class.

“I’m feeling really good going into the race week as Ram Racing is very well prepared,” said Griffin.  “While Ram is a fairly new team there is a lot of Le Mans experience within the team and they know what it takes to be successful.”

This will be Griffin’s 3rd consecutive year taking part in the legendary endurance race. The previous two years he has teamed with AF Corse. For this year, it is Ram Racings first year at Le Mans and with a successful official test day under his belt, confidence is high.

“We had a very good test at Le Mans last Sunday; we were fast all day and got a lot done in terms of working towards race strategy regarding fuel and tyre choice. We ended the day 3rd in the GT Pro class, so it shows we are fast.”

Like the previous two years, Matt will be the only Irish driver entered in to the race and he feels proud to be representing the ‘green isle’.

“I feel very proud to represent Ireland and will be filled with pride as they play the Irish National Anthem before the start of this year’s race. I finished 3rd last year so I am hopeful of a similar result.”
