Norris Heads Wet Morning Juniors Free Practice

1 Mins read

Lando Norris set the pace in a wet Ginetta Junior Championship free practice at Oulton Park, finishing the short fifteen minute session 1.3 seconds ahead of his HHC Motorsport team-mate James Kellett.

The Junior competitors were first on track in the morning, and after early morning thunderstorms the 14 to 17 year old racers were greeted by treacherous conditions on track.

Norris was sublime in the conditions, quickly heading to the top of the timesheets, where he stayed throughout as he set a best time of 2m 14.606s.

Kellett just grabbed second with a time of 2m 15.921s, finishing up 0.034 seconds ahead of local racer Ryan Hadfield, who’s sporting a new luminous yellow livery on his R&J Motorsport Ginetta G40J for the weekend.

Championship leader Jack Mitchell ended the session fourth fastest, narrowly edging out his JHR Developments team-mate Jamie Chadwick. The top five were separated by 1.780 seconds.

Jamie Caroline finished sixth overall, the Total Control Racing ace having topped the timesheets in official pre-event testing on Friday. William Taylforth, Jonathan Hadfield, Ben Pearson and Thruxton race-winner Dan Zelos completed the top ten.
