8Star Motorsport are enjoying a strong showing in the 82nd running of the 24 Hour of Le Mans. The Venezuelan team’s distinctive orange Ferrari 458 Italia GTE held eighth place in the competitive LM GTE Am class at the six hour mark.
The #90 Ferrari 458 was started by Paulo Ruberti who immediately climbed three positions from his starting spot of 42nd overall. It was ninety minutes before a small error at Arnage slowed the Ferrari. Ruberti ran wide and punctured his left rear tyre. The car weathered both the rain and the 40 minute intervention of the safety car well, while Ruberti passed the reins of the prancing horse to Gianluca Roda.
Seventh in class and 34th overall was the position in which the team found themselves at the four hour mark. A pit stop on the six hour mark, during which Roda passed the baton to Frankie Montecalvo saw the team relinquish their gained class position.
Montecalvo is now tasked with taking the 8Star Motorsports Ferrari though the gloaming hours and into the demanding night shift.
