Stilp Completes The Clio Double At Croft

1 Mins read

Jordan Stilp eased to his second win of the weekend in round 10 of the Renault UK Clio Cup at Croft.

Stilp pulled away early from the rest of the field and continued to build a big gap thereafter.

The 20Ten Racing driver crossed the line almost seven seconds ahead of 2nd place James Colburn.

Colburn never looked like challenging Stilp for the lead, but was also under no pressure from Ash Hand in third place. Colburn finished almost four seconds ahead of Hand.

Paul Rivett had been running third for much of the race but seemed to be struggling for pace as a queue formed behind him.

Hand took advantage of Rivett’s slow pace and made a bold move up the inside of the WDE Motorsport driver going into the hairpin. Hand was able to make the move stick and continued to pull away.

Rivett was however able to hold off the numerous advances of Ant Whorton-Eales and Lee Pattison.

The race began with an eventful few laps. Josh Cook made contact with the barrier at the chicane on lap one after briefly brushing the front left of Rivett’s car before the chicane.

Cook suffered sever damage after the incident but carried on regardless. This brought out the black and orange flag for the SV Racing driver, who was forced to pit.

Devon Modell also had an early off on lap one, running across the grass going into the chicane left Modell in last place, before he retired.

Mike Bushell had a race to forget as well. He crossed the line in 13th after an altercation with Modell at turn 14 left Bushell out wide and on the grass. Bushell ended up finishing a lap down.

All three incidents are currently under investigation.
