Maini Grabs Wet Second Race Win

1 Mins read

Arjun Maini has made it two from two for Lanan Racing at Oulton Park with his second consecutive reversed grid victory in the BRDC Formula 4 Championship. A safety car start aided the Indian driver, as the wet conditions gave him the drop on pole sitting Chris Dittmann Racing machine of Tom Jackson. Maini went on to build a 4.883 second margin of victory in eleven laps.

Sennan Fielding for HHC Motorsport also got past the #10 Jackson driven entry but was forced to the pits with damage and finished in 17th place and a lap down. Jackson retired on lap 7 joining Hillspeed’s Alfredo Zabalza who dropped out on lap 2.

Raoul Hyman took second place for HHC with his team mate Will Palmer in third. Struan Moore headed Chris Middlehurst from MGR Motorsport and race 1 winner George Russell. Gustavo Lima for Hillspeed, Nicolas Beer of Sean Walkinshaw Racing and Diego Menchaca for Douglas Motorsport came next with Rahul Raj Mayer’s Hillspeed machine rounding out the top ten.

Conditions were treacherous, with Diego Borelli from SWR joining Jackson and Zabalza in retirement on lap eight.

Petroball Racing continued their strong run of form thanks to Gaetano di Mauro. The new Brazilian registered, Milton Keynes based outfit only had one car at Oulton Park but di Mauro ended the race just outside the top ten in eleventh. He was followed across the line, just 0.675 seconds later by Douglas Motorsport’s Charlie Eastwood and the final SWR run car of Jordan Albert. Rodrigo Fonseca recovered from his poor Friday showing to place 14th in the final Douglas car.

MGR Motorsport’s Michael Claessens and Tom Bale for Chirs Dittmann took fifteenth and sixteenth ahead of Sennan Fielding. Fielding was the last classified runner.

Race winner Arjun Maini said, “I really enjoy the wet conditions, and at this track especially. We did some testing here last week and it paid off. It feels great to get my second win of the year.”
