Three-time Renault UK Clio Cup champion Paul Rivett has heaped praise on his rookie team-mate Charlie Ladell, feeling the teenage rookie is destined for a bright future in the tin-top championship.
Ladell stepped up to the Clio’s alongside Rivett at WDE Motorsport at Oulton Park in June, and has since taken a top nine finish in every race that he’s competed in.
The highlight of his three weekend spell so far came in race one at Snetterton, Ladell keeping his nose clean as chaos reigned around him to card a superb fourth place finish in only his fifth Clio Cup race.
Rivett, who also acts as a team manager for WDE alongside his driving duties, feels that result proves the potential that the former Ford Fiesta Junior champion has.
“Charlie has been absolutely brilliant,” Rivett told TCF. “In his third Clio meeting he put it fourth, knocking on the door of the podium, it’s brilliant and he’s only 17 years old. He’s a real talent and he’s going to be a real force to be reckoned with in the future.
“It’s a real pleasure working with him and I’m looking forward to the future with him, he’s going to be a front-running driver in this championship for sure, if not a champion.”
