Snetterton Date Set For Ginetta Winter Series 2014

1 Mins read

Ginetta have confirmed that this year’s Ginetta Junior Winter Series will take place at Snetterton over the weekend of November 8/9.

The seventh running of the end-of-season event will follow the same format as last years series, with one fifteen minute qualifying session and two fifteen minute races on each day. The series will use the same points system as the main Ginetta Junior Championship, with a prize fund for the series to be announced at a later date.

The Winter Series has grown in importance over the years as drivers have used it to get crucial additional track time ahead of the main championship the following years, with many rookie drivers using it as an introduction to car-racing. Nine of the current Junior field competed in the Winter Series last year.

The mini-championship also has a strong history of providing drivers with a successful platform for the following years main series, with 2011 and 2012 victors Seb Morris and Harry Woodhead going on to win the headline title the following year, while reigning champion James Kellett is currently in the hunt for this year’s championship.

“The Winter Series is a fantastic way for those making the step up from karting to enjoy a ‘ toe in the water’ before committing to a full year in the series,” said Ginetta Championships Manager Ashley Gallagher.
