Paul Donkin will compete in a sixth SV Racing Clio at Brands Hatch next weekend as one of two newcomers to join the Renault UK Clio Cup for the final rounds of the season in Kent, with Gary Jenner also entering the fray with Westbourne Motorsport.
Donkin will make his second appearance on the BTCC support package this season, the Ariel Atom Cup regular having made a one-off outing in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Croft in June.
The 29 year old will team up with series returnee Simon Horrobin and KX Akademy quartet Josh Cook, Alex Morgan, Ant Whorton-Eales and Ash Hand in the SV Racing awning.
“I had an approach from Danny [Buxton – SV Racing team principal], I know him through a good friend, and there was a seat available for Brands so I thought why not?” said Donkin.
“I’ve never driven front-wheel drive on track so it’ll be a new experience, but I’m really looking forward to it.”
Jenner meanwhile will team up with James Colburn at Westbourne in place of regular driver Devon Modell, who sits out the final rounds of the year after taking a best finish of fifth at Snetterton.
51 year old Jenner, who’s has links with Modell as his businesses sponsor the young racer, completed his ARDS test earlier this week and will head to Brands as a complete racing novice.
“The opportunity has all come about through Devon [Modell] as we’ve supported his racing with sponsorship,” commented Jenner.
“It’s definitely going to be a baptism of fire for me next weekend. I’m no slouch but I’m not setting my sights too high – just because someone might play golf doesn’t mean they can go and play in the Ryder Cup”
