Austrian team Zele Racing have confirmed that Angolan-born Luis Sa Silva will make his Auto GP World Series debut in the season ending round at Estoril.
It will be the first time Sa Silva will compete in Auto GP, having raced primarily in the GP3 Series with Carlin for the past two seasons, but the 550bhp Auto GP car will be a big step up for him.
He will also need to adapt to the two compounds of Kumho tyres the series uses, whereas GP3 only uses one compound per weekend.
“I’m happy to drive such a powerful race car like the Auto GP one,” insisted Sa Silva. “It will be a tough challenge but I’m happy that it will happen at Estoril. It’s one of the tracks I know better as I turned lot of laps there. I also consider it my home circuit because I live in my second house not too far away from it”.
Sa Silva will be Zele Racing’s sixth driver of 2014, having seen Sergio Campana, Yoshitaka Kuroda, Christof von Grunigen, Tamas Pal Kiss and Samin Gomez all race for the team at some point during the season. The team were absent from the previous round at the Nurburgring.
The Estoril weekend marks the end of the 2014 Auto GP World Series season, with Kimiya Sato already being confirmed as champion.
