Ken Block takes 2014 Gymkhana GRiD final top spot

1 Mins read

The competition for the 2014 Gymkhana GRiD Finals was fiercely fought this weekend in Madrid but it was Ken Block who took the top honours as he fought off the tough competition.

Jake Archer took his AWD Subaru Impreza wagon all the way to the final to challenge Block but it was the head Hoonigan that took the win.

“I’m stoked to have taken the win here in Madrid – the driving from the other competitors was awesome and the GRiD course was epic, I really enjoyed driving it.” said an excited Block

“To take the win and have a €10,000 winners cheque to donate to the Keep A Breast Foundation that I’ve supported all year makes me very happy. Can’t wait to be back to race again next year!”

It was another Monster Energy athlete that took the RWD category and the €5000 winning cheque – Luke Woodham who fulfilled a personal dream when he beat fellow Brit Adam Elder in a close final run.

In the AWD class veteran Dmitrij Sribnjy climbed on to the top step as World RX driver Reinis Nitiss faced disappointment following technical issues with his car.

Both Vaughn Gittin Jr and Liam Doran were hampered by mechanical problems “I’m obviously gutted I couldn’t drive” Gittin Jr told MonsterEnergy.com “It’s what I love to do, but watching all of these guys on the track was awesome.

“I can’t think of anywhere else other than Gymkhana GRiD where you can get the opportunity to drive against the best drivers in the world.”
