Bonifacio confirms FR3.5 promotion with Draco

1 Mins read

Brazilian Bruno Bonifacio has been confirmed to race for International Draco Racing in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series during 2015, joining compatriot Pietro Fantin at the team.

The twenty-year-old steps up from racing with Prema Powerteam in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Series in 2014, where he took one win and three other podium finishes on his way to fifth in the final standings. He was the main challenger to eventual champion Nyck de Vries at the beginning of last season before his results dropped away.

Bonifacio tested with Draco Racing at the end-of-season tests at the Circuito de Jerez, and his announcement to drive for the team had long been expected.

“It’s impossible to imagine how happy I am for having secured a ride with Draco,” said Bonifacio.

“I have never had any doubt that this was going to be the team and the series for me and I did my utmost to make it.”

After Bonifacio’s announcement, plus the news that Dean Stoneman will race for DAMS in 2015, seventeen of the twenty-four seats for the season ahead have now been filled. Only Zeta Corse and Comtec Racing have yet to announce any driver, while Fortec Motorsports, Strakka Racing and Pons Racing have only announced one driver so far.
