Elshimy joins Ginetta GT5 grid

Mohamed Elshimy will this year compete in the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge with SVG Motorsport, it has been confirmed.

The news was released by Elshimy, an Automotive Engineering student at Loughborough University, ahead of his maiden campaign in the catagory with the new-for-2015 outfit SVG.

The 18-year-old was vice-champion in the pre-2005 Classic Touring Cars Racing Club in a Peugeot 206 last season, and has nine-years of racing experience in Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Belgium and England.

Ahead of this years campaign in a Ginetta G40, Elshimy said: “the Ginetta GT5 Challenge seems like a logical stepping stone towards become a professional GT driver, and it is also one of the best championships in terms of media coverage and the quality of driving present.”

With a wealth of experience behind him in the cockpit, and despite being just 18-years-old, the Ginetta-debutant is aiming high for 2015.

“I would like to finish in the championship top three in my first season as well as develop and expand my knowledge as a racing driver.”
