2014 GP3 Series champion Alex Lynn got behind the wheel of a GP2 Series car for the first time today at a test session at the Sakhir International Circuit in Bahrain.
As part of Lynn’s prize for winning the GP3 title last year he got to take the new GP2 development car for a spin before anyone else.
The main aim for the test is to get good aero-testing mileage on the car and to work on the reliability of the new DRS system ahead of the new season.
Lynn spent much of the morning running straight line aero tests to gather data for all teams in the Series. In the afternoon the Brit carried out long runs around the circuit to test the reliability of the DRS system, again all of the data collected will be accessible to all teams.
Lynn expressed his gratitude at the opportunity to find out first hand how the new car feels.
“I have really enjoyed driving the GP2 development car today,” said Lynn.
“It has been a very studious test session so far. I am grateful for this prize and opportunity. I would like to thank the Series and I hope that my feedback will be a benefit to all of the GP2 teams regarding the newly added DRS.”
Newly promoted Williams development driver Lynn will continue his test session tomorrow.
