Kings Lynn and Gniezno announced for 2015 Monster Energy FIM Speedway World Cup

1 Mins read

Two venues have been announced for the 2015 Monster Energy FIM Speedway World Cup in Poland and Great Britain.

The cup will see Poland face Sweden and the Czech Republic in Gniezno, Poland on June 6 while Germany, Italy, Slovenia and Russia take each other on at the German track in Landshut on May 9.

2013 World Champion Tai Woffinden leads the Team GB side as they face Australia, United States and Latvia in Kings Lynn, Great Britain on June 8.

Winners of each event will join hosts Denmark in the Monster Energy SWC Final at Vojens on June 13. The teams that finish second and third will then qualify for a Race-Off on June 11 to gain a place in the final four.

“Gniezno is a former capital city of Poland with a history going back over a thousand years.” said BSI Speedway Managing Director Paul Bellamy.

“The current Polish team is making modern history, having won six SWC gold medals over the past decade. I’m sure Marek Cieslak’s team will enjoy fantastic support in Gniezno as they bid for a place in the Final at Vojens, where they lifted the Ove Fundin Trophy in 2010.”

While Gniezno is new to the Speedway World Cup, Kings Lynn is a familiar venue having hosted races for the last four seasons.

“It’s great to have Gniezno as a Monster Energy SWC venue and it’s always a pleasure to take the competition back to King’s Lynn.

“The racing never disappoints and Team GB’s victory there last summer will give them every confidence they can storm straight to the Final again. Australia, the USA and Latvia might have something to say about that, though, and this will be a fiercely contested meeting.”

Tickets for both events will go on sale in due course and information will be available via www.MonsterEnergySWC.com.
