Canadian teenager Nicholas Latifi has been confirmed to drive for the Arden Motorsport team for the 2015 season of the Formula Renault 3.5 Series.
The nineteen-year-old from Toronto joins Russian Egor Orudzhev in the team, having made his debut in the series at the back end of the 2014 season with Tech 1 Racing, culminating in a runners-up spot at the season finale at Jerez.
Prior to his Formula Renault 3.5 Series debut, Latifi was racing in the FIA European Formula 3 Championship with Prema Powerteam, and finished on the podium at Silverstone. Latifi is hoping to be a championship contender during 2015.
“I am excited for the opportunity to work with Arden for the Formula Renault 3.5 championship in 2015,” said Latifi. “From the moment I started testing with Arden in the post season, the team and I worked very well together.
“I am confident we will be in a position to fight for the Championship right from the start. I can’t wait for the season to begin.”
Team owner Garry Horner was impressed with Latifi when he tested for the team at the end of 2015, and feels he has a top driver in his hands this season.
“We are delighted to have Nicholas with us for the 2015 season,” insisted Horner. “He spent some time with us during the end of season testing in November last year and we were impressed with his mature manner and his analytical instincts in the engineering of the race car.”
