Andretti confirm Foust, Speed & Beetles for 2015 Red Bull GRC!

1 Mins read

Andretti Autosport has confirmed that they will return to the Red Bull Global Rallycross Championship in 2015 as Volkswagen Andretti Autosport Rallycross with an unchanged driver line-up of Tanner Foust and Scott Speed. Andretti Autosport made its debut in the championship in 2014, originally starting the season with VW Polo RX Supercars.

Both Speed and Foust will pilot Volkswagen Beetle GRC Supercars that were introduced last year at the Las Vegas event. The Beetle GRC’s, which were specifically built for the championship, will be entering their first full season of Red Bull GRC and proved to be a popular addition to the championship in 2014.

Scott Speed, a former Formula 1 and NASCAR driver, enjoyed a good season in 2014 where he took three event victories on his way to finishing third in the Drivers Championship. In the first half of the season, Speed fought another former Formula 1 driver, Nelson Piquet Junior for the lead of the series.

“After racing the Beetle GRC in the season finale last year, I couldn’t be more excited to run this car for the full 2015 schedule,” said Speed. “Volkswagen and Andretti have done even more development in the off-season and the expectations are extremely high.”

Tanner Foust is already a Double Champion in the Red Bull Global Rallycross Championship, having secured back-to-back titles in 2011 and 2012, as well as finishing runner up in 2013. Foust took one event victory last season in New York and is looking to secure a third GRC Title and a first for Volkswagen and Andretti Autosport.

”With several races in the Beetle GRC last year, the team has built a solid foundation for the 2015 season,” said Foust. “Volkswagen and Andretti are a winning combination, and I’m sure we’ll be challenging for the championship by the time we get to Las Vegas in November.”

The 2015 Red Bull Global Rallycross Championship starts in St. Petersburg on 31st May.
