Gavin to partner Percat at Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport

1 Mins read

GM factory driver Oliver Gavin will partner Nick Percat at Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport for the 2015 Pirtek Enduro Cup.

The pair teamed up last year for the V8 Supercars’ annual endurance leg, finishing eighth overall and third at the Bathurst 1000 km.

One of the most decorated sportscar drivers of recent years, Gavin has tasted success at almost every level. The four-time Le Mans winner’s experience was one of the main reasons for Percat’s decision to bring the 42 year old on board for the 2015 endurance campaign.

“Oliver was the first and last driver on my list of who I wanted to drive with,” said Percat. “I was adamant on having Olly back because he showed great speed, is a quality driver and brings a wealth of international and endurance racing experience.”

“Olly is a consummate professional and I know that both Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport and I can learn a lot from him,” Percat added. “He will bring a lot of ideas on how we can continue to develop. We can focus on making sure our car is strong from the outset, because I know he can drive a V8 Supercar fast.”

Gavin made his V8 Supercars debut at the 2011 Gold Coast 600, but only returned to the Australian series last year. This season, the British stalwart is keen to repeat the successful endurance campaign that he and Percat embarked on in 2014.

“Nick and I had a great run at Bathurst and finishing on the podium was definitely a highlight of the year for me,” said Gavin. “Nick and I are a great combination; we work well together and are a strong mix of youth and experience, so I’m really looking forward to continuing what we started. Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport is also a great young team and its passion, energy and enthusiasm makes me really excited about the enduros.”

The Pirtek Enduro Cup begins with the Wilson Security Sandown 500 on September 11-13. The series then moves on to the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 on October 8-11 before reaching its conclusion at the Castrol EDGE Gold Coast 600 on October 23-25.
