Reigning Ginetta Junior champion Jack Mitchell will step up to the Renault UK Clio Cup this season with SV Racing.
Mitchell won the Junior title with JHR Developments thanks in part to a dominant start to the season, the Kent-based racer winning six of the first eight races.
Five more podium finishes including a seventh win followed for Mitchell, who raced with backing from BTCC outfit Motorbase Performance.
The 16 year old has completed a number of test outings with SV over the winter in preparation for joining Ant Whorton-Eales and Bey Seyfried at the reigning Teams’ Champions this season.
SV took eight race wins and a total of 26 podium finishes last season, with four of their drivers finishing in the top eight of the championship.
Mitchell becomes the youngest driver on the grid this season and is the first ever Ginetta Junior champion to compete in the Clio Cup.
“Signing for SVR was an easy choice for me after witnessing what they achieved last season,” said Mitchell. “They are always at the forefront of both the UK Clio Cup and Ginetta GT4 Supercup, plus they are a great bunch of guys who have given me a huge amount of support.
“The team has given me a great car and I now feel I have got to grips with it. The racing in the UK Clio Cup is more intense and closely fought than I’ve experienced, but my time in the Ginettas has provided me with strong foundations that will allow me to get stuck in.”
