Jazeman Jaafar completes Fortec 2015 FR3.5 line-up

1 Mins read

Malaysian Jazeman Jaafar has been confirmed to race for Fortec Motorsports in the 2015 season of the Formula Renault 3.5 Series, joining Oliver Rowland.

It will be the twenty-two-year-olds third season in the series, having previously raced in 2013 with Carlin before spending last year as the sole driver for ISR Racing. He finished on the podium in both Monaco and Spa-Francorchamps, and finished tenth in the championship last year.

Jaafar tested for Fortec Motorsports at the back end of the 2014 season, and impressed Managing Director Jamie Dye sufficiently to take the second seat alongside Rowland.

“We’ve watched him come through the ranks of the sport and have been impressed with his performance,” insisted Dye.

“We wanted to sign an experienced FR3.5 Series driver and after a strong test with Jazeman over the winter where he fitted in well and gelled quickly it was good to be able to secure him for 2015.”

Jaafar was happy to be able to join Fortec and have a team-mate as strong as Rowland, especially after spending last year on his own at ISR.

“I had a really good test with the team in the winter, settling in really quickly and establishing a good rapport with everyone,” said Jaafar.

“It’s great to be getting back in the car with the team at Jerez this week and I hope that we can have a strong showing and a productive test.

“Having Oliver as a team-mate will be good for me too, as I didn’t have a team-mate last year and he has FR3.5 experience, so I have no doubt he’ll be quick as well.”
