Richie Stanaway Returns To Status For GP2 Test

1 Mins read

Richie Stanaway will once again team up with Status Grand Prix this week to complete the final GP2 Series pre-season test in Bahrain.

Stanaway, who impressed by posting the fastest time of all three days at the first pre-season test in Abu Dhabi, will be driving the number 23 car alongside full-time Status GP2 driver Marlon Stockinger.

The GP3 Series race winner with Status is still without a drive for the 2015 season despite finishing 8th in the GP3 standings, with two wins and five podiums.

Team Principal Teddy Yip Jr believes Stanaway could be a race winner in GP2 if he were to make the permanent step up.

At Status we are passionate about developing talent,” said Yip Jr. “There is no question that Richie has this in abundance and is a highly motivated driver.

His performance in the GP2 test earlier this month proves that he could be a race winner in GP2 as he was for us in GP3.

Stanaway added: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Status for giving me the chance to complete another GP2 test.

GP2 is one of the strongest Series’ in the world, I believe we have a really competitive package at Status and I am hopeful that we can show our pace here in Bahrain as we did in Abu Dhabi.
