GP2 Series veteran Johnny Cecotto Jr and Italian teenager Leonardo Pulcini have will race at this weekend’s Auto GP Series opener at the Hungaroring.
Cecotto Jr spent five full seasons in GP2, winning four races in that time, and will join Russian Nikita Zlobin at Virtuosi UK, with the Venezuelan racer having raced a handful of races in the Euroseries 3000 series in both 2006 and 2007; the series became Auto GP in 2010.
“I’m delighted to be back in the series promoted by Enzo Coloni, as I raced there before it became Auto GP and I have great memories,” said Cecotto Jr.
“I can’t wait to line-up at Budapest and compete against some of the stars of racing in an high-performance car. I’m sure this will be a really exciting weekend.”
Pulcini, who has raced the opening two EuroFormula Open races for DAV Racing, is eager to get started this weekend in Auto GP, having joined Facu Regalia at FMS Racing.
“I’m excited for this new adventure in Auto GP, with a new car, lots of horsepower and a track I don’t know yet,” revealed Pulcini.
“I want to take the best out of this opportunity. I’ll try to adapt myself as much as I can to the car and racetrack, and my aim is to be fast straight away.”
