Damage Limitation For Zelos At Brands Hatch

1 Mins read

Dan Zelos is ready to bounce back and return to the podium at Donington Park next weekend following a bruising season opener at Brands Hatch.

Zelos headed into the weekend as one of the expected race win contenders and that was boosted when he topped the times in the first qualifying season of the year.

Unfortunately for the JHR Developments racer, his best time was disallowed for a track limits infringement, which put him right on the backfoot for the weekend’s two races.

Starting seventh for race one, Zelos battled to fifth early in the opener before contact dislodged his bonnet, reduced visibility restricting him to ninth at the finish.

Another scrappy race the next day saw him receive early contact, but in damage limitation mode Zelos fought his way through to fifth at the finish – and with it sixth in the championship after a tough weekend.

“Without the penalty in qualifying, it could have been an entirely different weekend – but equally, in the circumstances, it could also have been a lot worse,” said Zelos.

“We put some solid points on the board, and that’s important because there look like being several different race-winners this year, which means consistency will be vital. It’s going to be a tough season, that’s for sure, with plenty of fast rookies in the field!

“We didn’t have the luck on our side at Brands, but we are definitely in the mix and we’ll come back at Donington chasing the silverware we missed out on this weekend.”
