Spanish rookie Alex Palou set the pace for Campos Racing on the final day of GP3 Series testing at Valencia.
Following an impressive day on Thursday, where the youngster finished first in the morning and fourth in the afternoon session, Palou was quick once again as teams ran qualifying simulations in the morning.
Palou set the pace early on with a 1m20.880s with Thursday pace-setter Marvin Kirchhofer close behind with a 1m20.892s.
Following the opening hour teams reverted to their respective race simulations meaning Palou’s time remained unbeaten in both sessions.
Kirchhofer’s ART Grand Prix team-mate Esteban Ocon and Kevin Korjus, who was standing in at Koiranen GP for Lotus F1 Team reserve driver Adderly Fong, both continued their impressive pace from Thursday by finishing the morning session third and fourth respectively.
Matheo Tuscher and Jimmy Ericsson followed close behind in fifth and sixth, while the third ART of Alfonso Celis Jr and Ralph Boschung finished less than half a second off leader Palou.
Jenzer Motorsport‘s Pal Varhaug completed the top 10. Varhaug set the pace during the afternoon session with a time of 1m21.719s, almost a second down on Palou’s morning benchmark.
The final pre-season test will take place at Barcelona on April 22-23.
