“Massive” Brands Win Delights Points Leader Proctor

1 Mins read

Senna Proctor hopes his maiden Ginetta Junior Championship victory at Brands Hatch can be the beginning of a title challenge in his sophomore year in the category.

Proctor sits as the early championship leader following a pair of podiums at the season opener in Kent, a third place in the opening race leading to victory in the live-televised race two.

The win came in dramatic style after contact between Billy Monger and Jamie Caroline at the final corner allowed Proctor to storm through to the front on the run to the chequered flag.

“We hadn’t been as fast as we’d have liked to have been in testing, not the fastest in my team, but we’ve shown this weekend that we can be the championship leader with my racecraft and consistency,” Proctor told TCF.

“It’s massive to get the win and my confidence now for the rest of the season is huge. Hopefully I can keep this consistency going, focus on getting podiums, and hopefully be in the championship hunt at the end of the year.”

The result was particularly important for Proctor with it coming on his first race weekend running with backing from BTCC outfit Team BMR, with the 16 year old being full of praise for their influence.

“Warren and the team have put a huge amount of faith in me, and all their advice and support they’ve given me has been unbelievable,” Proctor added.

“JHR Developments are obviously still setting up the car as well and they got a mega set-up on it this weekend, so to reward them all like this is amazing.”
