The Auto GP Series will see a new team arrive in 2015 with Paolo Coloni Racing being added to the entry list.
The Italian team are hoping to field up to three cars in the series this season, and sees the return to racing for the team that previously ran in the GP2 Series before they withdrew at the end of 2012. They won eight races in their eight-year participation in GP2, with the last coming in the hands of current IndyCar ace Luca Filippi at Monza in 2012.
Paolo Coloni, who took over the running of the team from his father Enzo when the team left Formula 1 back in the early 1990’s, was happy to see the team return to competitive motorsport in 2015 in such a competitive series as Auto GP.
“I’m happy and proud to be back managing my own racing team after a 2-year break,” insisted Coloni. “Auto GP is a very interesting championship considering the level of the teams involved.
“Virtuosi Racing manages the Russian Time operation in the GP2 Series, and Super Nova is committed to the Formula E series together with Team Trulli.
“As Paolo Coloni Racing we will have to work hard to hit the top straight away. We will announce the deals with a main sponsor and with the drivers shortly”.
