Pidgley Joins Richardson Racing for Donington Round

1 Mins read

Ollie Pidgley has confirmed he will race for Richardson Racing at Donington Park this weekend as the team extend to two cars in MSA Formula, with Pidgley joining Louise Richardson at the team.

It will be Pidgley’s first single-seater weekend as he makes the step up from karts. The 17-year-old will need to get up to speed quickly as his fellow competitors will go into the meeting with a race weekend headstart.

Luckily this won’t be his first time in a car, having competed in the Michelin Clio Cup Series last year where he took a few class victories and finished in the top six in the championship.

To add to his list of experience, he has previously tested a Formula Ford, Formula Renault and the MSA Formula car. This will mean that he could be a competitive driver going into the weekend.

He summed this up by saying; “I’m massively excited about this weekend and it’s all worked out well as Donington is a circuit that I enjoy.

“It’s great that I’ve been able to agree a deal with Richardson Racing and I’m looking forward to getting on track and getting down to business. I’m at a bit of a disadvantage compared to the others as I’ve missed the opening rounds, so I need to make the most of the time on track and really get a feel for the car.”

Meanwhile his team mate, Richardson, seemed to enjoy her new racing partner, saying; “I’m really pleased that Ollie has decided to join Richardson Racing, it’ll be great to have a quick team-mate to work with and hopefully we’ll both be able to perform well this weekend.”

However; the move puts doubt on Team Pyro’s association with the championship, with their two main test drivers over the winter, Pidgley and Ameya Vaidyanathan, now signed for different teams and no word of an entry.
