Regalia switches from Zeta Corse to Comtec

1 Mins read

Facu Regalia will race for the Comtec Racing team rather than Zeta Corse in this weekend’s season opening Formula Renault 3.5 Series event at Motorland Aragon.

Zeta Corse look set to miss the event, with the team looking at getting the funds in place to field cars at the Monaco weekend at the end of May. The team tested Venezuelan Johnny Cecotto Jr and Russian Roman Mavlanov during pre-season alongside Regalia, but are now seeking two drivers for this season.

Regalia joins Comtec Racing, who missed pre-season testing completely, and missed three events in 2014 as they lacked the finances to run. There had been doubts about their participation, but now with Argentine driver Regalia on board, those fears can be quashed.

“I’m looking forward to driving again the WSbR car,” admitted Regalia. “I’m extremely motivated because it’s such a nice chance to compete in the series, with many drivers making the jump from Formula Renault 3.5 to Formula 1.

“I want to have a good start, which it’s maybe my “unfinished business” for some reason. Finally I join Comtec Racing and it’s worth mentioning that I will work with the same engineer. I would also like to thank Comtec its trust and support. Besides they have worked in record time to prepare everything for Motorland.

“We are facing a challenge but I feel confident. My second day in Acañiz was rather positive and it provides a good basis on which to build. I’m not setting any goals yet, but of course I want to do my best”.
