Tanner Foust unleashes 900bhp Volkswagen Passat for Formula Drift

1 Mins read

Tanner Foust has unveiled his 900bhp Volkswagen Passat that he will be using to take on the Formula Drift series in a bid to once again win the title.

“One of the things I have always loved about drifting in the United States is how inventive you can get with the car builds. You can put a high-horsepower V8 into a Volkswagen Passat to make something completely unique,” said Foust. “You don’t see that in another series in the word.”

Foust is no stranger to the series having won the series in 2007 and 2008 but since 2010 has been concentrating on other projects including taking home the Global Rallycross Championship title twice.

“At the heart of it, I’m an enthusiast,” said Foust. “Having the chance to dream up something incredible and then work with a team to modify and build and make it real is incredibly rewarding.”

While Foust wont be taking part in the full season he will be at three rounds including the season opener in Long Beach this weekend. He is also due to compete in the  Road to the Championship round in Braselton (May 8-9), and the season closing Final Fightin Irwindale October 9-10.

Along with a full Red Bull Global Rallycross Championship, and the selected Formula Drift rounds, Foust will also be racing in the FIA World Rallycross Championship and the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, plus returning to the X Games for the Global Rallycross invitational race.
