Ticktum Runs Off to Take Race 4 Victory

1 Mins read

Dan Ticktum managed to make the most of his pole position by leading the whole race and taking his first victory of the season, leaving his competition behind, beating James Pull by 7 seconds.

Ticktum started on pole alongside his championship rival Lando Norris. However; off the start, it was 4th placed Gustavo Myasava who made the best get away, claiming 2nd into the first corner. It was a clean race from the rest of the field as there were no major incidents. So at the end of the second lap, Ticktum lead from Myasava, Norris, Pull and Sandy Mitchell.

Jack Butel saw himself fall to 19th on the first lap ruining his chance of points. Meanwhile on lap 3, Norris ran wide at the chicane allowing Pull to attack him, however, no position change occurred.

With 16 of the 20 minutes to go, Ticktum had pulled a 1.1 second gap to Myasava, with 2 seconds from the Brazilian to Norris, who was holding up a queue of traffic. Meanwhile Mitchell ran wide and down to 8th.

With 14 minutes to go, Norris closed on Myasava setting the fastest lap, this meant that Norris and Pull, edged away from the pack. But also meant that Ticktum had a lead of 2.1 seconds.

There were problems for Tarun Reddy who had to bring his car into the pits to get a new left rear tyre. He was soon joined in the pits by Josh Smith who had a similar problem. However, continued problems for the Racing Steps Foundation sponsored driver meant he spent many laps in his box. The first major crash came from Rafael Martins who had been 6th, however it was cleared before a safety car was needed.

With 6 minutes to go, Norris took 2nd from Myasava, however; failed to pull away meaning that Pull reeled them in and took 3rd at Redgate corner in the same way his rival had. Norris was left to defend from Pull allowing Myasava back into the fight, so on the last lap Norris dropped to 4th, while Ticktum took the win.

It had been a great drive from Matheus Leist, who had started 17th and Petru Florescu who had started 20th, both claiming points, with 17 cars making the finish.
