Vaxiviere remains on top after second Collective Test

1 Mins read

Frenchman Matthieu Vaxiviere continued to set the pace at Motorland Aragon after ending the second Formula Renault 3.5 Series Collective Test session with the fastest time.

The Lotus driver set a best lap time of 1m42.337s to end the afternoon session on top, beating Jazeman Jaafar of Fortec Motorsports by 0.430s.

Tio Ellinas was the leading debut driver in the session in third for Strakka Racing, ahead of the second Fortec Motorsports machine of Oliver Rowland, who goes into 2015 as one of the pre-season championship favourites.

The Red Bull-backed Dean Stoneman was fifth ahead of DAMS team-mate and 2014 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Champion Nyck de Vries, while Tom Dillmann from the Jagonya Ayam with Carlin stable was seventh.

SMP Racing-backed Egor Orudzhev placed his Arden Motorsport machine into the top ten in eighth, ahead of Pietro Fantin of International Draco Racing, while Dutch female racer Beitske Visser completed the top ten for AVF.

There were two red flag disruptions during the session, with Alfonso Celis Jr spinning his AVF machine into the turn five gravel trap, while a few minutes later Roy Nissany stopped his Tech 1 Racing at turn two.

Qualifying for race one takes place on Saturday morning.
