Ameya Vaidyanathan – “So Much More to Come from Him”

1 Mins read

It was an up and down weekend at Rockingham for the Hillspeed team saw some strong racing but few promising results. The exception to this was Ameya Vaidyanathan who managed a second place in the fourth race of the season. The result helped him move closer to his team mates in the championship.

Vaidyanathan managed to put in a strong qualifying performance by his standards from the last round, however; starting only fifteenth on the grid was going to make it hard to score points. Despite this, he managed a strong start and quickly worked his way through the order emerging fourth after the Deene hairpin. He would go on to overtake Akhil Rabindra, followed by Jack Lang on the final lap.

“We’re absolutely delighted for Ameya, he produced a sensational performance in the first race and considering it’s only his second weekend in the championship there’s clearly so much more to come from him”, reflected Hillspeed team principal Richard Ollerenshaw.

Meanwhile it was an uneventful weekend for Faisal Al Zubair, however; he did manage an impressive ninth place in the first race. “Faisal is making big strides forward,” commented Ollerenshaw. “Two top 10 finishes were good reward for him and you can’t ask any more from your drivers than to achieve season-best results which is what he did.”

Sebastian Lanzetti had also managed to stay out of trouble but in the final race of the weekend, after qualifying fourth he managed to fight Rabindra for the podium, but after losing out, struggled to keep the momentum and found himself falling back to ninth.

Ollerenshaw said; “Unfortunately, Sebastian was involved in a bit of contact which meant he wasn’t able to capitalise on his obvious pace but we know he’ll be back challenging near the front at the next round.”

The next race is at Silverstone, on May 30th and 31st.
