HHC Motorsport‘s Will Palmer won the opening race of the Silverstone weekend for the BRDC Formula 4 Championship, after starting from pole position this afternoon.
Off the line, Jordan Albert moved past Harri Newey into second place, with Will Palmer taking a strong lead straight away. Newey started to try and re-take 2nd but instead got pushed back to 4th, with Ciaran Haggerty soon moving into 2nd instead.
After the first lap, Palmer had extended his lead to 2.339 seconds, with Haggerty and Rodrigo Fonseca following him.
With race 1 completed, Will Palmer took the win, finishing Ciaran Haggerty 5.8 seconds behind. Having started 15th, championship leader Chris Mealin couldn’t manage to improve on his position. Omar Ismail finished a strong 7th on his debut BRDC F4 race.
Hernan Fallas will start on pole for race 2 tomorrow, having finished 8th today.
