Butel joins JHR Developments for remainder of Season

1 Mins read

MSA Formula racer, Jack Butel will switch teams for the second half of the season. Butel has had a tough season to date having not finished higher than eleventh and will be hoping for better results as he gets use to his new surroundings.

Butel will move to the JHR Developments team who won the second race at Oulton Park with Sennan Fielding. The result helped Fielding to sixth in the championship where he sits two points behind Sandy Mitchell in front.

The Jersey born driver competed with SWB Motorsport for the opening rounds of the season. The team will focus their resources on their only remaining driver; Rafael Martins who sits tenth in the championship with one podium finish this season.

Butel had worked for SWB for the past 18 months having competed with the team in the Protyre Formula Renault championship last year, finishing eighth in the standings with 175 points. He left the team after a mutual understanding.

When talking about his exit, Butel said; “It is with regret that I have to part company with SWB Motorsport. The decision has not been easy but I believe it is the best thing for both parties. I have had a great 18 months with the team and they have taught me a lot having raced in Formula Renault, MSA Formula and they helped me make my rallying debut on the Jersey Rally. I wish all of SWB the best in the future as I continue my racing career”.

Going on to say; “I am delighted to be joining JHR Developments for Croft and the remainder of the season. When I spoke to Steven Hunter at JHR, I felt confident I could work with the team to help maintain my career momentum”.

The next round in Croft will be this coming weekend on the 27th and 28th June.
