Hand Sets The Pace In Croft Clio Cup Testing

1 Mins read

Ash Hand continued his impressive run in the Renault UK Clio Cup with the quickest time in official testing at Croft today (26th June).

The Team Pyro ace set a best time of 1m 31.992s around the 2.13 mile circuit to head championship leader Ant Whorton-Eales by over three tenths of a second.

Ashley Sutton and Brett Smith made it three Pyro cars in the top five, the duo split on the timesheet by Paul Rivett, while Jordan Stilp, Dan Holland and Charlie Ladell were next up in a top eight split by less than a second.

Rory Collingbourne and Jack Mitchell completed the top ten ahead of local racer Paul Donkin, who just edged out fellow series returnee Peter Felix, the fastest of the Masters Cup entrants.

All the drivers improved their times in the day’s second session except George Jackson, a wild airborne moment at the chicane ending his track time.

“It’s working well for me and I still think there are a few more tenths I can wing from the car and tyres,” said Hand.

“Qualifying tomorrow will require massive concentration: it’s an abrasive circuit here meaning both pairs of new tyres we’re permitted on the front will only be good for one mega lap each.”

Full testing times can be found here.
