Jann Mardenborough topped practice for round two of the GP3 Series at the Red Bull Ring in Austria.
The Carlin driver beat his team-mate Antonio Fuoco, who is making his Formula 1 debut with Ferrari next week, to top spot by just 0.073s.
The majority of the fastest times were set in the closing stages of practice with top spot swapping hands several times. Trident’s Luca Ghiotto was the first driver to dip into the 1m20’s before Campos Racing driver Alex Palou overhauled him.
Ghiotto swiftly reclaimed the position before Fuoco jumped to the top. This only lasted a few seconds though as Mardenborough pipped his team-mate to secure first place.
Championship leader Esteban Ocon finished the session third ahead of Ghiotto and Matheo Tuscher.
Palou fell down to sixth ahead of the third Carlin of Mitch Gilbert and Emil Bernstorff.
Seb Morris and Pal Varhaug rounded out the top 10 while Marvin Kirchhofer, who had been fighting with the front-runners early on, found himself down in 14th behind team-mate Alfonso Celis Jr.
