Sennan Fielding – “Natural Ability is Beyond Doubt”

1 Mins read

After a promising season, Sennan Fielding finally picked up his first MSA Formula victory of the season, leaving the weekend at Oulton Park, sixth in the standings. He incidentally also became the sixth different winner this season in the increasingly competitive championship.

In the first race of the weekend, Fielding lined up eighth on the grid. A strong drive saw him finish in the same position, in a race that only saw two retirements. The result of the reverse grid saw him start third.

He made the most of the opportunity and launched his JHR Developments car into first before reaching the first corner. Race one had proven just how difficult overtaking was and the former McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Award finalist and Racing Steps Foundation MSA Young Driver of the Year found himself successfully defending his lead from the pack. He won the race ahead of fellow championship competitors, Matheus Leist and Dan Ticktum.

“After a difficult start to the season, I’m delighted for Sennan that he has secured his first MSA Formula victory – and in commanding style, too,” said team principal Steven Hunter. “JHR is the only team in the paddock to have now won in each of the BTCC support categories, which obviously makes me very proud.”

“We’ve worked incredibly hard to develop this car into a race-winner, and I must say that the performance and potential of the MSA Formula single-seater is phenomenal. It’s a superb series, and after claiming our first podium finish at Donington Park, we’ve now ticked the next box – which with the calibre of competition in the championship, really is no small achievement.”

Fielding is the only driver for JHR Developments this season. He now sits just 2 points behind Sandy Mitchell in the championship. A poor weekend for Mitchell saw him pick up only 3 points, ensuring Fielding will have the momentum going into the next round at Croft.

Hunter was also hopeful for the rest of the season; “Having worked with Sennan before, we’ve always known what he is capable of and his natural ability is beyond doubt – it was simply a matter of time before the results started to flow. We’re clearly moving in the right direction, and I’m sure this will be the first of many successes for JHR in MSA Formula.”
