Racing Engineering driver Alexander Rossi says that he and his team “are working hard every day to improve” as the American prepares for the sixth round of the 2015 GP2 Series.
“We’ve been close so many times,” Rossi admitted, talking about his chances of victory throughout the season so far. “We have finished on every step of the podium, except the top.
“For Hungary our goal is the same as every weekend; to score as many points possible in both races. We are not approaching this weekend any differently.”
In Silverstone, the American found himself on the podium in the feature race with a second place and seven seconds off of third in the Sunday sprint race. Talking about his weekend at Silverstone Rossi said: “…It was a good weekend, our best so far this year. It was a nice confidence boost for the whole team after a difficult weekend in Austria.
“I think it is the heat that makes this track most difficult,” Alexander Rossi said, aware of all the challenges that Hungary has for driver and car. “Managing the tyres will be extra important this weekend, as well as determining the best strategy due to how difficult it is to overtake around this track.”
As GP2 approaches the summer break, Rossi currently sits second in the championship standings behind Stoffel Vandoorne of ART Grand Prix.
“It has been a very good start to the season and there are a lot of things to be happy about; however the person leading the championship has done an exceptional job and have a big gap to overcome.
“We are working hard every day to improve as we look to make the second half of the season even better and hopefully we will achieve our first race win very soon.”
The sixth round of the championship takes place 24-26 July in Budapest, Hungary.
