Dan Walmsley: “FR3.5 has been a key element of Strakka’s growth”

1 Mins read

Strakka Racing Team Principal Dan Walmsley has thanked Renault Sport for its support of the Formula Renault 3.5 Series following the decision of the manufacturer to withdraw its support of the series at the end of 2015.

For the past eleven years, Renault Sport has jointly backed the FR3.5 category of World Series by Renault, with Walmsley insisting the series has been a key part of Strakka’s growth in motorsport.

The team are also actively watching the developments about the future plans for the series, with plans to continue racing in the series should the proposals for 2016 and beyond be satisfactory, and will make their final decision when all details have been finalised.

“FR3.5 has been a key element of Strakka’s growth,” revealed Walmsley. “It is a great championship and has proven itself to be an ideal training ground for F1 with our own Will Stevens making the transition.

“We’d personally like to thank Renault for its support of the championship and the way it has promoted the category. It has been professional and proactive in all areas of the series.

“We are following closely the developments for the series’ future and what this will look like for 2016.”
