Dean Stoneman: “We’ve got a good plan in place”

1 Mins read

Dean Stoneman is looking forward to this weekend’s Formula Renault 3.5 Series event at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, with the Red Bull Junior driver eager to get his tactics right to have good results.

The British driver sits fourth in the championship after the first four rounds of the season, having finished on the podium three times for his DAMS team but is still searching for his first victory of 2015, but has positive memories of the Red Bull Ring despite failing to score points in either race of 2014 whilst racing for the Marussia Manor Racing team in the GP3 Series.

“I enjoyed it last year in GP3, qualified P3,” revealed Stoneman, who retired from race one and finished tenth in race two in 2014. “It is quite short, very technical, with both low and very high speed corners.

“It is a smooth track, hard to get temperature in the tyres and the F1 guys were doing 30 laps on the Supersofts so you can see the sort of surface it is. That makes it very interesting both for car set up and the way you use the tyres. Last year they were getting 5 laps on qualis so that will be a bit different.

“We’ve talked a lot of things over in the team and we have looked at the tactics and the way we go about things so we’ve got a good plan in place.”
