GP2 and GP3 Series officials have confirmed that an extra round will be added to this years calendar, with the event set to take place at the Bahrain International Circuit on November 19-21 alongside the FIA Six Hours of Bahrain.
The race has been added to fill the gap that was made by the cancellation of the German Grand Prix, and will mean it will be back-to-back races for the support series’ at the end of the season.
CEO of the championships Bruno Michel said: “I am pleased to confirm that we have added Sakhir to our 2015 GP2 and GP3 calendar in November. Ever since the announcement of the cancellation of the German event, we have been working hard to try and add a round for both Series.
“It was important that we could keep the costs down for the teams, but also to find a venue that was an added value for the drivers. Bahrain International Circuit was the best option: not only is it a Formula One track, but it makes perfect sense to have it back-to-back with the final round of the season in Abu Dhabi.”
Following this addition to the championships the final half of the seasons are as follows:
21-23 August – Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium
04-06 September – Monza, Italy
09-11 October – Sochi, Russia
19-21 November – Sakhir, Bahrain
27-29 November – Yas Marina, UAE
