Ladell Returns To WDE Motorsport For Rest Of 2015

1 Mins read

Charlie Ladell is returning to WDE Motorsport for the remainder of the 2015 Renault UK Clio Cup season, leaving Team Cooksport.

Ladell made his Clio Cup debut with WDE last season, a team he previously competed in Ford Fiesta racing with, before switching to Cooksport this year.

The 18 year old has finished in the top ten in all ten races so far this season, securing seven top six results, but has yet to break into podium contention.

“The appeal of racing for a team run by Josh Cook was obvious and I’m very grateful for all his team have done with me in the first half of 2015,” said Ladell.

“But equally I’ve always felt WDE is my spiritual home – I’ve done most my racing career with them, including my first Clio Cup races.”

Ladell will once again link up with three-time Clio champion Paul Rivett at WDE, who is in title contention having secured four podium finishes including a win at Oulton Park.

“To be back there with Paul as a team-mate, mentor and benchmark is I believe what I need to step up to the next level,” Ladell added.

“I want to match him and beat him, just like any other driver, but if in the closing stages of the season he has a strong chance of the title then I definitely need to look to help him out on track if he needed it.”

WDE Team Principal Wayne Eason commented: “We’re delighted to have Charlie back. Charlie has definitely chosen a good time to come back to us as we really believe we’ve found something extra in recent rounds.”
