Michael’s even more Epps-ellent with Spa double-header

1 Mins read

Michael Epps more than proved Spa-Francorchamps suits his VW Golf as he took two wins out of two in the VW Racing Cup.

Starting fifth on the grid, he certainly had more of a challenge than he did in race one – especially with solid campaigners David Sutton, Jack Walker-Tully, Lucas Orrock and team mate Howard Fuller ahead of him on the road.

However, it didn’t take long for the Team HARD Racing drivers to claw their way to the front of the field as first Fuller and then Epps dispensed with Walker-Tully as he made an error which sent him down the field.

It seemed to settle down for a lap until erstwhile leader David Sutton made quite a major mistake at the end of the Kemmel Straight and slipped down to sixth place – allowing Orrock to take the lead of the race.

Although, it didn’t last long as Epps was clearly on fire and first dealt with team mate Howard Fuller to move into second and then they paired up to relegate Orrock to third place and lead a Team HARD 1-2.

Behind them, Bobby Thompson made moves at trying to get his hands on a podium finish. He was running fifth until the final laps but a slick bit of overtaking saw him climb up to fourth place.
