Lowes: “I Messed Up a Little Bit!”

1 Mins read

Sam Lowes admitted his stressful qualifying session was largely his own doing after he ran out of fuel midway through. The Briton was forced to push his own Speed Up back to the pits but the effort was worthwhile as he stormed to pole position on his return.

“I messed up a little bit!” he admitted. “I missed my board and did one lap too many. I knew I had to do a mid 2:06 so to do a 2:06.3, I was quite happy. I’ve got a lot of support this weekend and I’ve tried all weekend, pushed in all the sessions and worked a lot especially on used tyres. I couldn’t worked in any better way to put me in a good position for the race. I feel good and if it’s wet or dry, I think I can be there”.

Lowes is now dreaming of a memorable home victory and he believes he has the race pace to do so, as long as he can get away with the leading group early on.

“I’ve done a lot of work on my own this weekend and I feel confident. If I can get the front, make a nice rhythm and stay at the front for a few laps, two or three guys is better than having seven or eight guys there. That will be a nice plan for me to get to the front, enjoy the race, try to be smooth and see what happens at the end.”

The Moto2 class kicks off the race day action at Silverstone tomorrow with the Grand Prix getting underway at 11:20am UK time.
