Tanner Foust Tops Qualifying On Day One In LA

1 Mins read

Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross driver Tanner Foust was the quickest driver on the first day of action at the Port of LA, securing pole position for the first half of the Red Bull GRC Los Angeles presented by Subaru Tecnica International double header weekend.

Foust’s time of 42.228 was just 0.028 of a second quicker than his VARX team mate Scott Speed who registered the second quickest time.

In what was perhaps the surprise of the session, Bucky Lasek clocked in with the third fastest time. Lasek, making his first start since Detroit after his team elected to miss the previous round in Washington DC, was clearly the fastest Subaru runner with his SRT USA team mates Travis Pastrana, Sverre Isachsen and David Higgins qualifying seventh, 12th and 13th respectively.

Series returnee Brian Deegan took fourth in his Chip Ganassi Racing Ford Fiesta, ahead of Ken Block and DC winner Nelson Piquet Jr. while rookie Brian Wong set the eighth fastest time in his first ever Red Bull GRC Supercars qualifying session.
