Zarco Takes Pole by 0.002s Over Rins

1 Mins read

Johann Zarco scored the Moto2 pole position for the 2015 San Marino Grand Prix, and did so by an unbelievably small margin of just 0.002 seconds over Alex Rins. Joining them on the front row tomorrow will be Tito Rabat.

Alex Rins was on top of the timesheets for almost all of the session until he was pushed off the top spot by Ajo Motorsport‘s Zarco. The Frenchman took his sixth pole position of the season with four minutes to go. His time was a 1:32.754, beating the previous lap record of Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli by almost a second.

Meanwhile, the Paginas Amarillas HP 40 rider had to settle for second. Rins will start the race on Sunday ahead of EG 0,0 Marc VDS‘ Tito Rabat, who qualified 0.1s off the pace.

The second row is led by Forward Racing and Simone Corsi, in his best qualifying performance since Assen. Technomag Racing Interwetten‘s Dominique Aegerter and Petronas Raceline Malaysia‘s Hafizh Syahrin complete the row.

Of note elsewhere in the field are Sam Lowes, who qualified seventh on his Speed Up Racing bike, and Thomas Luthi, who starts 13th.
