1 Mins read

SMP Racing-backed Nikita Zlobin will compete for Pons Racing in the upcoming Formula Renault 3.5 Series events in Le Mans and Jerez alongside Yu Kanamaru, who remains in the team having joined ahead of the previous round at the Nurburgring.

Nineteen-year-old Zlobin, who began the year racing in the Auto GP championship with the Virtuosi UK team, will make his debut in World Series by Renault this weekend, while twenty-one-year-old Kanamaru stays after impressing the team in his debut event in Germany after stepping up from their sister team in EuroFormula Open.

“We are very thankful to SMP Racing for their trust in our team to develop young driver Nikita Zlobin,” said Team Manager Emilio de Villota. “We will be working very hard with him to grow up together in every session.

“The confirmation of Yu for the last two rounds is the result of our good combine work in Nürburgring. Yu was above expectations and I am sure he will progress every time he is in the car. For sure the best is yet to come”.
