Chapman On A Podium Mission At Brands Hatch

1 Mins read

Matt Chapman is determined to bring his second Ginetta Junior Championship campaign to a close with a maiden podium finish this weekend at Brands Hatch GP.

Chapman has been knocking on the door at the front of the field throughout the season, taking four top six finishes and five other top ten results, with a best finish of fifth at Knockhill.

The Total Control Racing ace heads into the meeting with confidence high after producing one of the best drives of his career at Silverstone last time out.

Starting at the back of the grid in race two following contact in the opener, the 15 year old gained no fewer than fifteen places on his way to a sixth place finish, setting the fastest lap of the race en-route.

Chapman sits eleventh in the championship, 23 points shy of the top ten, and heads to the Brands finale hoping to finally card a maiden podium finish, having taken a strong top ten result on the GP circuit last season.

“We’ve had some consistent pace over the last few rounds, so there’s no reason that shouldn’t be the same at Brands,” said Chapman.

“I went pretty well on the GP track last year, and it’s a fantastic circuit to drive, so I’m confident we should be able to end the season with a strong performance. I’m on a bit of a mission to get on the podium, it’s been possible so many times this season but something has gone against us each time!”
