DTM Series driver Daniel Juncadella will race in the season finale of the EuroFormula Open championship with the Emilio de Villota Motorsport team in order to qualify to race in the Macau Grand Prix.
The twenty-four-year-old Spaniard has agreed to race in Macau with the Fortec Motorsports team but needs a Formula 3 race outing to qualify for the event, and the Mercedes-backed DTM driver will join the EuroFormula Open field at the Circuit de Catalunya this weekend.
“I am really looking forward to driving a Formula 3 car again,” said Juncadella. “And I don’t think there is a better way to do it than joining the de Villota family. I took my first step into the racing world with them.”
Juncadella will join the team alongside race winner Yu Kanamaru and Mexican racer Jose Manuel Vilalta in Spain before heading to Macau to try and become only the second two-time winner of the event.
