After a month long break from track action, GP3 returns to track this weekend in Sochi, Russia for round seven of the GP3 Championship. This weekend in Sochi will see a new face in the Trident Racing squad.
Trident drivers Luca Ghiotto and Artur Janosz will be joined by Italian driver Michele Beretta. The 20-year-old from Milan, who is in his second season of the DTM support series European Formula 3 in which he currently sits in 30th place of the championship, will be having his first taste of a GP3 car this weekend as he looks to impress in the Formula 1 feeder series. It is a new track for all three drivers so how they fair in Russia is a big question, but with the amount of track action throughout the weekend they should all pick up the complexities and hidden elements of the track.
Luca Ghiotto will line up in Sochi as the championship leader with 170 points – holding a 14 point advantage over closest rival ART Grand Prix‘s Esteban Ocon. Trident is also looking to overtake Arden International in teams championship with the British team holding a 17 point advantage; with ART Grand Prix a long way in the distance with 315 points.
