Snetterton Replaces Knockhill For 2016 Renault UK Clio Cup

1 Mins read

Snetterton will return to the Renault UK Clio Cup calendar next season after a year away in place of the annual trip north of the border to Knockhill.

An ever-present stop on the schedule for over 20 years, Snetterton was skipped last season in favour of a return to Silverstone.

After a two year spell, Knockhill is once again removed from the calendar, having previously only been visited once between 2007 and 2013.

The move means the championship will once again be contested over eighteen rounds, all in support of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

“2016 will mark the 26th consecutive year that Renault UK has raced alongside the BTCC,” said Renaultsport’s UK Motorsport Championship Manager Will Fewkes.

“It means every team, driver and sponsor on the UK Clio Cup grid will continue to be included in what is by far the best TV broadcast arrangement in British motor sport thanks to ITV Sport’s comprehensive live coverage and highlights of events.

“Similarly it means the UK Clio Cup is showcased in front of British motor sport’s biggest trackside crowds as the championship visits the best circuits around the UK.”

Provisional 2016 Renault UK Clio Cup Calendar:

Rounds 1 & 2 – Brands Hatch Indy – 2/3 April

Rounds 3 & 4 – Donington Park – 16/17 April

Rounds 5 & 6 – Thruxton – 7/8 May

Rounds 7 & 8 – Oulton Park – 4/5 June

Rounds 9 & 10 – Croft – 18/19 June

Rounds 11 & 12 – Snetterton – 30/31 July

Rounds 13 & 14 – Rockingham – 27/28 August

Rounds 15 & 16 – Silverstone – 17/18 September
